The planet is losing species at an alarming rate! Many scientists think we are headed for the sixth great extinction. The main causes of this loss of biodiversity are habitat loss, invasive species, over exploitation, pollution, and climate change associated with global warming.
Most species on earth are innocent victims in this developing tragedy, but we humans can act. You can begin locally by joining our Rockford Sustainability Committee Invasive Strike Team. We have regular 4th Thursday workdays. See our Facbook page for the latest times and work place. In 2023 we are concentrating on the trail that runs between the Rockford Dog Park and the Rogue River. No experience is necessary to participate. If you love being outside in nature and don't mind getting your hands dirty, please join us. We will have fun learning together!
Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Long pants, sturdy shoes, and gardening gloves are always a good idea. You may also want to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and your favorite gardening tool. Thank you in advance for caring!
