Community Composting
Did you know that in Kent County 35% of our waste is food waste? Organic waste in a landfill creates methane, a potent greenhouse gas. When food waste is composted and used to fertilize gardens and build healthy soil, it results in negative net greenhouse gas emissions.
We just received notice our grant request from NextCycle was accepted! We will be working on the details to start a pilot program to offer a central drop-off site for your food waste for those who don't wish to compost at home. We hope to make this program FREE to the first 75 households who sign up. If you wish to participate in the program, please email RockfordSusCom@gmail.com
