Stormwater Ordinance
The Problem
There are several ways pollutants can enter our waterways through urban settings. The image on the right shows the flow of stormwater to nearby bodies of water.
The Solution
A stormwater ordinance is a plan and strategy to reduce erosion, pollutants, and other unwanted objects in a watershed. When stormwater management practices are put into place our watershed becomes a healthier and cleaner ecosystem, reducing flooding and saving money.

Rain Gardens
Did you know Rockford has three Rain Gardens funded by Trout Unlimited on the White Pine Trail?
Rain Gardens are filled with Michigan native plant species that have deep roots, which absorb rain water, act as a filter for pollutants, and help to reduce flooding and erosion.
